Vicky joined the team in 2016 and delivers sessions across East Cheshire and North Staffordshire. Vicky’s love for music stemmed from a very early age when her grandmother used to play the Zorba’s Dance record on a Sunday and dance with her in her arms as a toddler!
At the age of 16 Vicky was awarded a full scholarship to train in the heart of the West End at the prestigious ‘Urdang Academy’, graduating in 2005 with a National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre. Since then she has worked as a choreographer and dance coach in various schools across Staffordshire and Cheshire and has danced and sang professionally in local carnivals and festivals with Art Brasil, B Arts, ReStoke and Curtain Call Productions.
Having qualified as a Primary School Teacher in 2013, Vicky has a wealth of experience working with children of varying ages and abilities; nurturing their creative side and developing their self esteem and confidence through arts based activities. In the summer of 2016 Vicky made the decision to leave her job as a primary teacher in order to pursue a career as a freelance community arts practitioner. As part of this new role Vicky also choreographs for a variety of community groups/events and teaches music at a couple of Primary Schools in Staffordshire.
Vicky feels very privileged to be a part of the talented team at Musical Moments. It was in March 2016 when she first enquired about opportunities to work with Musical Moments, having had first hand experience of dementia; both her paternal grandparents lived with dementia for over 10 years. When her grandmother passed away in June, she desperately wanted to put her talents to good use by touching the lives of her grandmother’s generation (especially those living with dementia), through the medium of music.
Aside from the arts, Vicky loves long walks in the countryside with her sausage dog Ches, holidaying with her partner of 16 years and shopping!
